Oh, let me tell you, if you like reading books about sports, 2023 got plenty for you. They announced all kinds of sports books this year. The big ones, you know, like for the 2023 Sports Book Awards, and there’s some mighty fine reads there. Folks been talkin’ about that all over the place. It’s a bit of a competition too, with all sorts of categories, but I heard one of ’em is for the best women’s sports writing. Something called the Vikki Orvice Award, that’s for new women’s sports writing, and it’s a big deal, let me tell you.
Now, sports ain’t just about watchin’, no sir. You got these books that give you a peek behind the curtain. Like this year, the big events they talk about, it’s the 2023 Cricket World Cup over there in India, and then there’s the Rugby World Cup happenin’ in France. If that don’t tickle your fancy, there’s also the FIFA Women’s World Cup down in Australia and New Zealand. That’s a lotta sports happenin’, so you can bet there’s gonna be some good books comin’ from all that. I reckon the folks who love a good read gonna have their hands full!
Let me tell ya, though, it ain’t all about just big ol’ events. This here thing called the #23in2023 reading challenge, now that’s caught some attention. Folks pick out 23 books they wanna read in 2023. Yeah, that’s a challenge alright! Most people got plenty of books sittin’ around they ain’t read yet. They say it’s popular on somethin’ called “bookstagram,” whatever that is. Ain’t never heard of it, but sounds like folks really into it. Pickin’ up more than two books, they say, puts you ahead of half the folks in America. Now if you manage to get through five books, you’re in the top third! Can you believe that? Five books, and you’re practically a champion reader these days.
So, if you ask me, sports books in 2023, well, they got somethin’ for everybody. Whether you wanna read about big ol’ games like cricket, rugby, or soccer, or just wanna join in on that readin’ challenge, there’s no shortage of good stuff to get your hands on. And don’t forget them awards – them writers work hard to put out stories that make you feel like you’re right there in the game. So if you ain’t read any sports books yet, now’s the time to get started, no need to wait till the year’s over!
